Our Story
A mezban is the one who hosts.
The word carries an obligation. A mezban is not the person who owns the room. It is the person answerable for whether everyone at the table has eaten well. In Kashmir that obligation has a shape: a copper platter, four guests seated around it, and a sequence of courses that nobody hurries.
Chamba has never had a house that served it. Wazwan travelled here the way most things travel through these hills: in stories, at somebody's wedding, remembered rather than eaten. We thought the town deserved the real sequence, cooked properly, on a weekday, without needing an invitation.
So Mezban opened in Sarol Gholti with a waza's kitchen at its centre and a North Indian non-vegetarian menu running alongside it, because not every table wants a trami, and every table should still eat well.
